I taught there for only a short time since I was preparing to retire and was placed as a necessary transfer from a previous assignment. The neighborhood was rather rough but the school had a very supportive and helpful administrative /faculty team. The low standard scores are a result of conditions the young people face at home making teachers face a very challenging student population and do try their best. I felt I had sufficient materials to teach so you can't blame that for an inadequacy. Since I left in 2006 there was a dramatic drop in staff and students. In all Dunbar has sufficient programs, teachers and facilities. The arts and extras I didn't know too much since I left rather early. I would consider this school for your child.
