I enjoy myself at this school and the student teacher interaction at this school are empathetic. The teachers are willing to assist you with the conflicts that occur in this school with things such as teacher peer mentoring along with the three guidance councilors we have.

Murray Hill Academy has come a long way since it opened in 2010. It has evolved into an extremely safe school with the best teachers I've ever worked with. The administration has changed, which has been a massive improvement and the school is now one of the best in the city. It has 7 AP Courses and two specialization tracks- Math/Computer Science and College Humanities that is very competitive and is now attracting a very different population of students. The staff is always trying new ways of teaching through our Japanese lesson study research and I've never been happier working somewhere else. The administration trusts the teachers and students are very happy. I would definitely send my child to this school- there are so many opportunities!

The school is a wonderful oppurtunity for all, college readiness classes are excellent and the learning environment is pretty clean.

I am a former teacher who resigned from this school due to its unsafe conditions. This school is a horrible place to work and learn. Fights break out multiple times per week. Many students have requested safety transfers for this reason. Some students refuse to attend and miss months of school out of fear for their safety while they wait for a transfer. A visitor came to the school and was unable to meet with students because a multi-student fight broke out in the hallway. He had to remain in the principal's office for his own safety. One female student was attacked in the bathroom by another female student. The bathroom's are locked while classes are in session so that students do not smoke illegal substances inside of them. The attendance teacher routinely berates and humiliates parents and the principal is aware and allows her to do so. Only 40% of students passed the Regent exams during the first year. This is a horrible statistic, but the principal called it "good for the first year." This is probably why the scores have not improved much. The principal is in denial about the school's failure to meet its student's needs. If you want your child to succeed, do NOT send him or her to Murray Hill Academy.
